My Community First Mission St

How I’ll Work For You
A Steady Hand for A Stronger Community
🏠 Strengthening Our Foundation
The Goal: Lowering the cost of living.
"Washington is pricing local families out of their own neighborhoods. I’ll use my background in economics to do the heavy lifting—cutting wasteful spending and fixing supply chains so that 'home' stays affordable for the people who actually live and work here."
Building for the Future
The Goal: Smart infrastructure and resilience.
"A community is only as strong as what’s underneath it. Whether it's our roads, our power grid, or our environment, I’m focused on building resilient systems that can weather any storm. We need infrastructure that serves us today and protects our children’s tomorrow."
Integrity as the Blueprint
The Goal: Government transparency and justice.
"I’ve studied criminal justice because I believe the rules should apply to everyone—especially those in power. I’m bringing a 'servant’s heart' to the job, ensuring our government is transparent, honest, and strictly focused on serving the neighbors making middle class wage, not special interests."

...and for the rest of you
Who I Am: My name is Keith Varian and I am a Construction Tradesman. I went to college for Criminal Justice with economics as a minor, and paid for it by working nights at Key Corp in Albany, New York. I also worked at Lockheed Martin after college, before choosing a Simpler life in the Trades. I’m also (as of recent) ...a very concerned Citizen.
I remember my history teacher telling me in 1985, that the Social Security Trust Fund could be depleted by 2035. She said this in ...1985 I didnt worry about it, a Half century is a laughably long amount of time to fix that, especially with the talented, brilliant people who’ve walked those hallowed halls.
...and here we are
And finally, with cooperation from Independents* I would adopt a 4-step Plan:
- Empower Individual Members: Reduce the power of committee chairs and party leadership to stifle legislation, allowing for more open amendments and floor debate.
- Change the Budget Process: Shift from "baseline budgeting" (which automatically increases spending) to a system that requires a formal justification for all expenditures, such as zero-based budgeting.
- Ensure Transparency in Fundraising: Reform campaign finance to make donor information immediately available, reducing the influence of dark money in elections.
- Increase Time in District: Modify the legislative calendar to guarantee more time for representatives to engage with constituents in their home districts, breaking the "Washington bubble".
*These reforms are designed to be implemented at the beginning of a new Congress to maximize support.
